Nore know this and Nore know that...One
thing Noreaga, A.K.A. Victor Santiago, A.K.A. Jose Luis, knows for sure is how to make a
hit record. This summer he unleashes his lyrical wrath on an unsuspecting world with his
solo debut album N.O.R.E. Hip Hop heads first experienced Noreaga's ill rhymes on last
year's classic album the War Report. As Capone-N-Noreaga the dynamic group received tons
of critical acclaim and sold a staggering amount of albums strictly on the strength of
street credibility with no commercial radio air play. The War Report received four mics in
the Source's album review section, and such prestigious awards as Best Underground Album
of 1997 in VIBE and the Source. This years' solo effort N.O.R.E. is the highly anticipated
second installment in the Capone-N-Noreaga saga. Although Noreaga is releasing a solo
joint, he and Capone are still together as a team. They have a special bond that connects
them on a creative, financial, and spiritual level. Their partnership is based on more
than blood money or recording contracts. Their paths crossed a couple of years ago when
their wild lifestyle brought them together at Collins Correctional Facility. The two
quickly became best friends on the inside and decided that after they got home they would
create brighter futures for themselves. When both of them returned to Queens, (Noreaga
hails from Lefrak or Iraq, and Capone is from Queensbridge) they started rhyming together
and officially became a group. The ambitious MCs made the rounds at all the New York
underground radio stations, blessing mics with blazing freestyles and building a rep.
Their quest for stardom led them to cross paths with Penalty's A&R Martin Moore, he
immediately signed them to Penalty Recordings and released an answer record to "New
York, New York" titled LA, LA." The single created a huge buzz and laid the
foundation for Capone-N-Noreaga's impressive first project.
Unfortunately, even though the guys enjoyed major success and underground fame with The
War Report fate dealt them a cruel hand. Capone was convicted again on a parole violation
soon after the album's release so Noreaga had to hold it down for the group. Despite
ridiculous odds, hardship, adversity, and haters who thought C-N-N couldn't do it, the
group managed to weather the stormy seas of success.
Now with all eyes on Noreaga, he and Capone decided to release Noreaga's solo album
N.O.R.E. to continue building the C-N-N foundation for longevity and prosperity. Capone is
the Executive Producer, and some of the heavy hitting platinum producers involved; Nasheim
Myrick (of the Hit Men), Poke and Tone, (Trackmasters), EZ Elpee, involved; L.E.S, Duro,
Clue, and Grease. Guest MCs showcased on the album, Nas, Maze, Mussolini, Kool G Rap,
Chico DeBarge, Busta Rhymes, Big Punisher, and the Lox. N.O.R.E. has all the elements of a
"classic" rap album, banging beats, lyrics, concepts, and the patented Lefrac
Norebonics. So prepare to experience Capone-N-Noreaga's post- apocalyptic war stories and
get hooked on cuts like "N.O.R.E.", "Esta Loca", and "I Love My
Life.
